The Challenge
A significant wireless carrier was tasked with executing approximately 300 new cell site builds as part of a multi-state expansion. With a timeline of 16 months to deliver fiber to all project sites, the client needed a project partner to manage the vendor and contractor RFP process, circuit installation, and project milestones to ensure delivery within the tight timeline.
The Solution
Vertex Innovations oversaw fiber delivery and provided full-phase project management, including:
- RFP and bid process management
- Circuit installation oversight
- “Room ready” determination and turn-up
- Procore PO workflow implementation
Additionally, Vertex incorporated project management and collaboration tools to enhance process efficiencies and hold vendors accountable to the client’s milestones and standards. These tools, Procore and Smartsheet, completed the project management services provided by:
- Enhancing visibility with time-stamped status updates
- Automating notifications
- Facilitating live data sharing and reliable reporting
- Increasing productivity over 25%
- Producing time savings up to 4 hours per day
The Outcome
As a result of this diligent project management and technology implementation, the client reported its highest number of completed cell site builds in that region to ever be recorded in a given year. Additionally, the client estimated $75,000 in labor savings thanks to these integrated tools.
