The Challenge
The Mall of America is home to more than 500 stores across 5.6 million square feet of shopping and entertainment paradise. Originally built in 1992, the mall sought to modernize its network capacity to meet the growing needs of its more than 43 million visitors each year. Meanwhile, the nation’s largest wireless carrier looked to expand its network capacity for the mall’s employees and shoppers alike.
The Solution
Leveraging extensive experience implementing neutral host Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) across the United States, Vertex Innovations was sourced by a leading wireless carrier to help bring faster service to the market. Vertex managed the implementation of in-building solutions (IBS) and DAS services across 92 sectors at the mall. This included documenting IBS/DAS data including equipment templates, fiber segments, and fiber panels into optical fiber paths. Following completion, the neutral host DAS boosted the client’s network capacity by 900% in the region.
