The nearly 18,000 square-foot expansion of the Redmond Ridge Multi-Access Edge Computing facility is comprised of two electrical rooms, two UPS rooms, and one network room alongside two, 3MW Caterpillar generators; two fully redundant 480V services with automatic transfer switches; six Vertiv Uninterrupted Power Supplies with wet cell batteries and Emsys Cell Spy wireless monitoring; and five Vertiv DP-400 air handler units with iCOMS integration.

As owner representative, Vertex supported the project’s success by coordinating network infrastructure for connectivity; reviewing and scrutinizing change order requests; managing the general contractor to the client’s quality control standards; implementing a robust QA/QC program; and engineering pathways for security and the BAS within the existing network.

During construction, we discovered inaccurate measurements for Hot Aisle Containment project submittals, a performance issue with the Nexus meter, and security concerns related to the site’s gate height. We worked quickly with the general contractor and client to resolve these concerns leading to improved performance and security at the MEC data center.
