Project Detail
Project Highlights
Originally constructed in 1998, the Vitesse FAB 2 Facility initially operated as 100,000 square foot semiconductor manufacturing facility until its acquisition by Verizon Wireless in 2009. Following the building purchase, Verizon sought to convert the facility into a data center as part of the carrier’s network capacity expansion.
Similar to data centers, semiconductor manufacturing plants are equipped with extensive power and cooling systems, which is why these facilities are a desirable canvas for refurbishment.
Vertex Innovations served as owner’s representative on the year-long renovation. At the time of completion, the facility managed Verizon’s wireless network for the western United States and supported the company’s goal to boost download speeds by two – three times, thus improving streaming abilities for its more than 80 million customers.
